For one night only

Almost two weeks since my last post and, to be honest, my enthusiasm for the blog is still pretty low. Wel apathetic rather than unenthusiastic. Is there a difference?

I am not exactly sure why. Maybe I am all blogged out or maybe, as Andy Ward has alluded to in his excellent blog, I have just said all I want to say. I know this is not a poker blog but I feel pretty much the same way at the moment.

I know that the time element is a big part of it too. Unfortunately I have difficulty just ‘dipping in’ to the blog every so often, as practised by Andy and the Camel…pre parenthood Keith anyway. The latter obviously, quite rightly, has more important things to do with his time at the moment...although an update on 'Baby Camel' would be nice, perhaps with a picture or two?

Neither do I have the skills and ability to be as snappy and succint as Peter B…although he does write for a living so one would expect this of him.

The trouble with the past few months of blogging, from my perspective, was that, due to my (sad?) obsessive nature it was getting to the point where it was becoming a chore. Similarly the amount of time it was taking was bloody ages. I was coming home from work and it was akin to starting a second job. A little bit like it was in the last 6 months or so of Gutshot when I was often sitting down and doing 50 or 60 ‘Player Profiles’ in one night…without of course all the rest of the shit that Gutshot and its’ management so kindly afforded me though.

I know the answer is to scale things down but this is something I am not particularly good at…you may have noticed 8-)?

I have still not decided what to do in the long term but still cannot see me putting up any more posts in the near future, although I may feel differently in a few weeks…never say never. Well for the time being anyway. I can't even be that bothered to blog about the wonderful events at the Walkers Stadium last night...as funny as it was 8-)

To be honest I haven’t really done much since returning from Ireland, this is not my time of year really. Around this time I tend to hibernate a bit and count the days to the Cheltenham Festival. I was going to be in Pau, in the Pyrenees, this weekend for their biggest (race) meeting of the season but can’t afford it what with Cheltenham at the end of the month, Leopardstown next month, Madrid (if I can get a bloody ticket), and both the Cheltenham and Punchestown Festivals in the next few months…I don’t half have a good life so I can’t complain when I have to miss the odd treat. I am still harbouring hopes of getting over to San Diego in March too for the first ever baseball World Baseball Classic (read World Cup) too. Here’s hoping for a Cheltenham half as good as the one I had last year eh kiddies?

Well that’s it for me…Mark Steel is doing a lecture about Billie Holiday on Radio 7 now. An interesting choice. I have never had Mark down as a Jazz person I have to say.

Oh yeah I almost forgot…Happy New Year to you all. It's only Xmas I hate no problems with New Years though.
