Don't be fooled by the result
Well what an absolute disgrace…and you knew that when it happened Cygan, Gilberto and Almunia would all be on the pitch.
I would like to apologise to Doncaster Rovers who deserved better. Much better. An absolute travesty of justice.
I wasn’t going to watch but in a strange way I am glad that I did. I suppose a bit like watching a car crash. You know you shouldn't but you just can't help yourself, as awful as it is.
The fault lies purely and squarely with the manager for tonight’s debacle. There can be no excuse for continually playing some of these players when it is apparent that they are of such a poor standard. Similarly the commitment level is also something to question the manager about.
Pascal Cygan in particular even looks a bad player alongside 3rd division players. I almost felt sorry for him at one point and then realised that I pay that twat's wages and he earns more in a few weeks than I earn in a year.
Bollocks to his goal. Does anyone know exactly how many times our ‘skipper’ (sic) gave the ball away? Absolutely no excuse for such terrible technique. I loved the quote at the end from Ian Snodin, the ‘Donny Pundit’ on Sky. After watching the goal he said he was surprised that Gilberto got there because he had not run 10 yards all night and looked like he couldn’t be bothered. Sorry Ian but that is just how good he is. He is always like that! Now you know what I am on about all the time. He really thought that Gilberto wasn’t ‘at it’ when in truth he was just being himself.
The fact that we had a virtual reserve side is immaterial. The level of commitment from some of our ‘star kids’ was almost as much an insult as seeing that piece of shit Gilberto captaining Arsenal Football Club.
From the moment Doncaster took the lead thanks to the most awful technical error from Almunia and some terrible positional play from Ebboue, it appeared that most of our players decided not to bother.
A great quote from Chris Kamara though…it was the first time I have heard him co commentating and I am amazed at just how bad he was. Even worse than Pleat. I kid you not!... he actually said, and I’m not making this up, that “…it is up to Gilberto to lift his team and be vocal”, yep “vocal”. He is obviously unaware that Gilberto hardly speaks English...well he has only been here for 4 years!!!!! The cunt!
And as for Donnys second goal. A terrible error by Senderos but can someone tell me why the goalkeeper, I know but what else am I supposed to call him, did not come and claim the ball and if not then why did he not stay on is line? Mind you I can answer my own question actually. He is nowhere the standard required and never ever will be.
Still the one good thing is that he is actually good at penalties…thank fuck he is competent at something eh?
Only one person is to blame for this shameful display and it is the manager. He has well and truly lost the plot and I am not sure if and when it is going to end. Very very worrying I can tell you. Be afraid fellow Gooners.
It is ironic that I was writing on here about the York cup-tie a couple of nights ago because the attitude and total lack of commitment tonight was wholly reminiscent of that awful day.
I was thoroughly ashamed to watch that tonight and the way I feel at the moment I am seriously contemplating never watching another game when Cygan is playing for Arsenal ever again. If everyone else did that the manager would HAVE to do something…wouldn’t he? Well, wouldn't he?
I love Arsene Wenger and I am seriously grateful to him but I really cannot continue to put up with such inept players wearing my club’s shirt anymore whilst he, seemingly, buries his head in the sand…sick and tired! Could you imagine the likes of Cygan and Gilberto staying at Old Trafford? Of course you couldn't! When Fergusmoan makes a ‘Djemba Djemba’ or a ‘Kleberson’ he admits his mistake!
And no of course I am not going to the semi final, it is a ludicrous competition that should be optional for clubs to enter. It was not about the trophy or the result but purely about the performance and attitude. Neither were anywhere near good enough.
Don’t let the outcome fool anyone. I am thoroughly ashamed of my team this evening.

When I saw that Arsenal had been "saved" by Gilberto's equaliser and Almunia's penalty saves, I had to think "I wonder if Steve will see it that way" :-)
Andy.
Yeah, but seeing as Gilberto spent the previous 119 minutes being Donny Rovers' 12th man and Almunia was at the centre of both of the opposition goals...it does not hold much water.
Although, as I have said, Fawlty Manuel is actually really good when facing pens. He has to be good at something!
I was very tempted to back us on Betfair before the spot kicks.
